Recommendations

Level 37+, Max Mastery, 1 Arrow Bomb (the more Arrow Bomb you have, the better)
The best EXP potential on this map is reached either by partying with an Ice/Lightning mage or a Hunter who is close to you in level. Have one person dedicated to the top set of platforms, and the faster killer on the bottom set. Whoever is on bottom should periodically clear the floor level to keep the spawn going at top speed.

Splitting this map without partying is also an option if your partner is either too high or low leveled to effectively party with. The same strategy should be used as with partying.

It is also easy to solo this map because of the teleporters.

Grab plenty of your mana potion of choice, and maybe 1/3 that in health potions. You will not get hit very often in this map if you follow this guide. Lower level Hunters will take more damage here, so plan accordingly.

The Map

OGM Spoiler!

As you can see, there are two sets of three platforms. Each set of three platforms has a matching set of sniping platforms on the left. These sniping platforms are where you will spend the majority of your time at.

The teleporters, which are the little doors in the trees pictured here, allow you to move between the two sets of platforms extremely fast. The total travel time between platforms ends up being 2-4 seconds. It is quite easy for you to completely dominate both platforms solo, but the map is also great for partying and splitting. It's up to you.

OGM Spoiler!

Your targets are the Lupin and Zombie Lupin that reside on the platforms. The main spawn is the Zombie Lupins, with a sprinkling of regular Lupins.

They do not spawn on, nor can they jump onto the sniping platforms.

Training Method

Ok, the neat thing about Monkey Forest 2 is the spacing of the platforms. They are close enough together that the explosion from arrow bomb will hit the monkeys on all three platforms simultaneously, provided the initial shot hits a monkey on the middle platform.

So, you stand like so.....

OGM Spoiler!

....and fire away with arrow bomb until you have killed everything that moves. Then, you hop forward onto the smaller sniping platform that is closer to the monkey spawn.

OGM Spoiler!

This allows you to see further onto the platform for the second wave of spawns, and completely clear it of monkeys.

You then teleport up to the top platform, and repeat the same process. I recommend looting every 2-3 times you do this. You'll get a feel for your own pace and the pace of the spawn as you spend more time there.

The best part of this map is that it actually uses the low impact damage of arrow bomb to your advantage. The monkey in the middle that is getting hit lives the longest, letting your arrow bomb kill off the monkeys on the top and bottom platforms first. This is key, because the explosion from the arrows that hit monkeys on the top and bottom platforms won't hit all three platforms, just the top two or the bottom two. Shooting only monkeys on the middle platform gives you the most efficient possible use of your arrow bomb.

If the spawn slows down, you can go to the bottom and use PKB to mob up all the monkeys there. I suggest working it from right to left, because there is a vine on the left side that leads to the sniping platforms. By the time you are done, both sets of platforms are usually loaded up.

Tips/Thoughts/Credits

I rarely get hit on this map, but just in case you do, try and position yourself so that the hit will just knock you back onto the next platform over. Falling slows you down.

A fully upgraded pet will greatly help speed up your xp rate on this map. It almost completely removes the need to actually go on the platforms to loot, since your pet will actually jump the gap from the smaller sniping platforms to loot.

I would recommend looting on this map, as the Cursed Dolls sell very well. There are some equip drops as well, along with a lot of leather and feathers. I personally make almost a mil a day here just selling the dolls, not including the meso I actually loot.

Lower level Hunters are going to want to keep in mind that they will get hit a lot more often. Plan accordingly with your pots.

Thanks to Hidden Street for the images, and thanks to WhiteAsIce for his archer guide. It really helped me with my hunter, and is one of the main reasons I enjoy the class so much.

Q&A Section

1. In between the ledges of 3 on the map, there is three ledges that are sort of straight. Do things spawn on there? Does the spawn die out, requiring a channel change?

No, nothing spawns there. The only spawn on the map is the two sets of three ledges, and the bottom spawn. Nothing ever spawns on the sniping platforms or the teleporters.

Also, you do not ever have to change channels. The faster you kill the spawn, the faster it spawns. I have found that maximum efficiency in leveling is reached by bouncing back and forth from one platform to the other. You spend 10 seconds on each platform, mowing down the monkeys, and the first couple waves of respawns. You then teleport down to the other set of ledges, and do the same thing. By the time you get back to the original ledge, it's full of monkeys again.

2. How "funded" or well equipped are you? How much do you make training here?

My range is 400-703. I'd say I am above-average equipped, but not funded. This is my first and only character.

I make a pretty solid amount of meso here. I don't keep track of an exact number, but I walk away with thousands of cursed dolls each night. Other drops include leather, bananas, feathers, and quite a few random gear drops. I actually tend to get a lot of thief and mage equipment here, although I found a rower last night. Sadly, zombie lupins don't drop any scrolls. :(

The main reason I am happy with the meso I get here is how cheap it is to train. You have to see for yourself to believe how efficient it is.

3. What mp pots do you use?

I use Sorcerer Elixirs and Supreme Pizzas. I feel that it give me the most efficient use of my meso. To give you some idea, I have leveled at this spot for 2 levels now. I have yet to burn through my initial 500 Sorcerer Elixirs and 500 Supreme Pizzas. In fact, I have 398 pizzas and 198 elixirs left.

You should use whatever pots are most efficient for your level.

Very nice. As one of the maps changed in patch 0.49, it's nice to see that someone actually took the time to explore and experiment. The main problem is that most Hunters would max Bomb at level 49. At level 50, most Hunters go to Dummies. Well, a Hunter could get level 15 Bomb by level 44, so that could be decent training. It would be nice if there were similar map layouts like this with stronger monsters.

Very nice! A lot of maps have changed to become more mob-friendly. One question: which type of lupins are there more of? If there are more zombie ones, I may go there some time to finish my cursed doll quest. Thanks

The main spawn is Zombie Lupins, and I have altered the guide to denote that. Thanks!

thats nice but nothing can beat the fast exp of stds or flyeyes

flyeyes = standing there for countless hours just holding down doubleshot

stds = mob and arrowbomb + FLAT MAP

i think this requires too much traveling time, thus slowing exp

That is what the teleporters are for. Travel time between the two sets of platforms is about 2-4 seconds, the teleporters are RIGHT beside the sniping platforms. You DO NOT climb the ropes, ever, unless you feel like mobbing the bottom up. You teleport between two full platforms of monkeys, meaning you spend very little time on this level killing any less than 5-10 monkeys at a time. You literally hold down arrow bomb and gain xp in chunks of 1-3K.

I will be posting xp per hour that I get here today, I didn't get an exact number yesterday because I was too busy rushing to level 50. It's hard for me to explain how fast the spawn ends up going, but I'll let the xp per hour speak for itself.

I think the meso is great, but I'll get you an exact number today when I train here. The main thing that makes this map so great is the fact that you get hit so rarely. It's not uncommon for me to grind and loot for 15 minutes without getting hit at all. Also, the bananas and cursed dolls you get here are quest items you can either use yourself, or sell for a tidy profit.

The lupins do not drop any super-expensive drops however, so the meso and quest items are the bulk of your income.

Thanks for all the questions everyone, keep them coming. It's helping me to flesh out the guide nicely.

I figured sooner or later there would be a guide for this amazingly hunter friendly map.

I recommend splitting the map with any else with a AoE mob skill, each taking 1 set of platforms. The faster killer ought to go the bottom set, so they can get the bottom floor every now and then, although it does take awhile for spawn to build up down there. With 2 people, the spawn is very consistent, and less movement = faster killing.

Furthermore, I would think this map would be best for those without FA, due to the fact that in order to hit the top platforms with bomb splash, you have to impact a bomb on the middle platforms. FA could be annoying, if it kicks in and kills the monsters on the middle platform to early. This is minor thing i noticed when doing the cursed doll quest at 7x, and come to think of it, probably a non-factor at the levels where someone would train here.

Bottom line, the cursed doll quest is wayyy easier for hunters than before.

Alright, my exp results are in.

As a level 50 Hunter, I got 24% in an hour. It worked out to be 170K XP, if you want to calculate about how much per hour you can expect at your level.

I myself am way beyond training here but I suppose I'll throw a few questions out there to maybe help those planning to train there.

1. In between the ledges of 3 on the map, there is three ledges that are sort of straight. Do things spawn on there? Like, if you just continuously bomb those ledges, does the spawn rate go down, requiring you to change channels?

2. How "funded" or well equipped are you? In reference with Josh's %/hr thread on his blog (http://b0wjob.wordpress.com/the-hr-for-archers/), archers get slightly faster exp at STD's than there (3%/hr more). Is your range higher or lower than that hunter getting 27%/hr at 48-50? (In case you dont want to check, his range is 412~740) Given the choice, I would probably choose to train at this monkey forest over STD if I was still 4x/5x as STD's are loaded and there's USUALLY lots of 6x/7x ice mages/sins ksing archers there. As well, from personal experience, zlupin dolls sell for A LOT. In Scania, I was able to sell for 500-600 each if I remembered right and when lucky, even up to 1,000 each. Judging from that, money here would be A LOT better and the profits could help in further funding.

3. What mp pots do you use? Like do you use mana elixirs/blue pots you buy in Ellinia or do you grab NLC pots (pizza, grilled cheese)? Judging from what you say, you rarely get hit, but in terms of mesos/mp, pizza's mp alone is more financiallly reasonable than using mana elixirs and this will leave your hp always at full, meaning no use of hp pots. I could be wrong, but I would think that's better than carrying a 1:3 ratio in hp to mp potions.

On a note completely unrelated to this thread at all, would I have permission to link it to my blog? I often have people coming there to ask me where to train at blah blah blah level and it would be really simple/nice if I could link them to your post/guide here.

I thorougly enjoyed reading your guide and found it very informative. Good work on the guide and thanks for sharing your training spot with others =]
