Default the build options for the lukless f/p

I've seen stuff quasi-related to this but wanted to hear the pros and cons of the options for a Lukless F/P (moderate funding)

I've read some of the lukless guides, and some of the f/p guides, i realize that poison counters the benefit of lukless.

Should i skip poison altogether in the 2nd job?
Should i still get it first in the 3rd job?

also, could someone give some rough ideas of where to train at what levels? i'm about to start 2nd job, and already grinning so far at the fast leveling due to the increased damage early on :-D

I'll have more to say about poison in a few weeks, since I'm entering the 60s and will have 28 Brace by lv 63. But here's what I think so far.

High power FA is hot. I didn't put points into Medi until early 50s, but I still did lots of damage at Ludi PQ in my 40s. I can't remember when I started at Jr Yetis, but my min was a few hundred points higher than any other Fizard I saw (still is).

Brace is great at DTs; I'll check out MDTs once I have 28 Brace.

I'm going to do what djflipstarx did; max Mist, 3 into Amp, then max Seal. What affects my decision the most is not the higher levelling speed, but that I have a guild full of 60+ people, with the majority being 75+. Sqpt! I don't really care about being stronger (I scroll for HP) than regular luk mages... there's a noticeable level stretch where we both must 2hit Jr Yetis...

See if you can one-hit Evil Eyes. Go to kitties when you can one hit them, otherwise Evil Eyes should be faster.

Holy crap, someone actually remembered my username. <3 the mention.

Actually, depending on your partner, misting can be faster when partied, even without a priest. At squids, I roughly get around 12% an hour solo, and probably...23%~ when partied with a hunter/sniper/hermit who's around my level. Sharks, I'm pulling in around 21% an hour solo (real rough estimates here) but, as you guessed, Sharks are way, way dangerous.

I'd love to try going with a priest and an attacker some time for squids, for sure.

yes, poison counters the benefits of lukless but lukless still has its benefits
i would skip poison in 2nd job but get it 3rd job first

y?

poison mist is the one skill that lets u level the fastest
when u level faster in the beginning, u'll level faster to get to the point where u can get explosion quickly and reep the benefits of lukless

my 2 cents

On the contrary, Brace is a skill that benefits from having higher INT because of the increased accuracy from going LUKless. Assuming you're properly funded, you can go DTs with relative ease early on, but it'll sap your meso hard. Not to mention Mist is effectively useless until you've got it near maxed compared to Brace. Also, you won't be getting explosion for a good, long while.

so what are the builds?

im assuming fire arrow first (with 1 tele at lvl 30 job advancement)

what order do brace, tely, meditate, and slow come in?

But it's rather pointless to get a skill that is only going to be effective from levels 60-75.

Brace is a nice skill, but since Mist is much better, unless your being unique and creating a pure Poison Mage, it's better to skip Brace in second job.

Mist replaces Brace totally and to give up a skill like Meditate, Slow, or Eater, all 3 of which are more useful than Brace past level 75, just to level up faster(compaired to Fire Arrow) for 15, maybe 20 levels is not very wise.

However, if your not worried about damage numbers, it is a decent thing to do to skip Meditate for Brace.
Meditate is only effective for attacking skills and since most Fire Mages use Poison Mist mostly for training all thru 3rd Job, it's very rare that Meditate will be very helpful for training in 3rd Job.

So if you don't mind, loosing about 200-300 damage, to level up faster between 60-80, then go ahead and master Poison Brace instead of Meditate.

I'm amused you didn't mention Eater. :D

Yes, 1 into Tele, then max FA. I'm currently at DT, and 28 Brace would be extremely useful. I suggest you max Tele after FA, and put some points toward Medi. Max Tele allows you to cover the span of the Jr Yeti map quickly, though if you like to pick up everything you won't find much benefit in the fastest mobility a mage can get.
