First Off, my name is Adam and this is my guide. I am using my personal knowledge here and some information that I have gotten from a few friends of mine. (Car and Viet) When I started this guide I was level 5x. No telling what level I'm now.
I used this guide myself, and have had great results. Over 30m in equips and mesos at lvl 50 easy. Does that sound good to you? I hope It does.
Lets Get Started
-Beginner-
OGM Spoiler!
For those that are starting a bowman as their first character, press the \ key as default to bring up your key window. This will be needed for when you lvl up and get stat points. Throughout my guide I will mention some things that you, as a first timer, won't understand. That is fine, leave a messege in this thread or messege me personally and I will answer your questions as soon as possible.
Your life as a beginner will be short. I suggest a few things that many won't agree with. First, I suggest that you get 4/5, 5/5, 5/4, 4/4 off stats. Off Stats are the ones such as INT and LUK. At lvl 1 your stats should look something like this
From here I suggest that you get your STR to 18. This is the STR that you need to weild your battle crossbow and should be were you leave your STR for now. After getting your STR to 18, I suggest that you dump the rest of your points into DEX. Most would have gotten something like 4/5 off stats at the beginning and will have stats like this at lvl 10-
STR 18
DEX 43 (somewhere around there)
INT 4/5
LUK 4/5
Now you are ready to head off to Victoria, the place will you will become a bowman and stay for quite a while. In order to get to the boat that heads to Victoria, head to the far right on the bottom. The city should be SouthPerry. From here you need 150 mesos to get to Victoria. Before you leave, I suggest doing some of the quest here that get you easy exp.
-Archer-
OGM Spoiler!
Head to Bowman Instructional School in Henesys where you'll find Athena Pierce. Talk to her, and she will advance you as a Bowman if you've the requirement stats. Those stats are 25 DEX and lvl 10.
Each Level up add 5 DEX from level 10 through 18. Then add 1 STR and 4 Dex from lvl 18+.
Ability Points, you obtain 3 of these everytime you level up. Press k, if you have default settings, to open your ability point menu. I will suggest that you either chose Arrow Blow or Double Shot at this momment. Many say that Double Shot deals more damage, but I personally dislike it because of the sound it makes, the animation, and a few other things.
Arrow Blow vs. Double Shot
Arrow Blow:
-Has a better chance to deal knock back (flinching as some call it)
-Bigger Flashy numbers
-Easy to tell how much health the monster has left (A key to not over killing, this also saves money because you don't waste shots)
-2 Less MP
-Uses only 1 Arrow
-Has a Blue animation (looks kinda cool IMO)
Double Shot:
-Proven to deal out more damage due to criticals false effect. Critical shot actually deals 100% more damage on EACH shot, not x2 the damage of your move.
-More of a machine gun effect on monsters (basically, more numbers)
-Fires 2 Arrows
-Uses only 16 MP
-Much like a sins Lucky Seven
-Easy to Shoot-Jump (not jump-shot, thats for sins. We only jump and do most of the animation and then land and shoot. This saves time, but we aren't in the air when we fire)
-Looks cool with Soul Arrow
I will now include a small section on your skills. This will not list word for word what they do, but more of a guide line to see what I am talking about when I tell you to add a point into it. If you want level by level of what your skills do I will include a link for it.
Skills:
Blessing of the Amazon-increases your accuracy
Eye of the Amazon-Increases range of your crossbow
Critical Shot-Adds more damage (a purple number) at certain rates.
Focus-Adds accuracy and Avoidability for a certain amount of time.
Double Shot-Fires 2 arrows at once.
Arrow Blow-Fires 1 arrow with "authority"
Ability Point Placing:
Although most say to go for Double Shot, I am a fan of Arrow Blow. Either way, your build only differs in the 2ed job advancement.
(during second job i will not include a Final Attack guide)

25-30 Zombies Mushrooms at Ant Tunnel 1/2 (easy, fast, good spawn. You can 2 hit these now)
-Crossbow Man-
OGM Spoiler!
Go to Bowman Instructional School in Henesys once you've reached Lv 30. Go inside, talk to Athena Pierce. She'll give you a letter and you've to pass it to the job advancement instructor near Henesys. After giving the letter, you'll be given an errand to collect 30 Dark Marbles by defeating the monsters inside. Be careful to stock your potions up before you start collecting the 30 Dark Marbles.
Once you've collected 30 Dark Marbles, talk to the instructor, and the instructor will award you with a Proof of a Hero. Go back to Henesys's Instructional Bowman School, and talk to Athena Pierce once again, where then you'll advance as the Crossbowman.
Now that you have become a Crossbow Man, you are quite powerful.
Arguements of Final Attack.
For:
-Free shot
-Doesn't use MP
-You train faster
-Provides knockback for Double Shot users

-Can't max everything
-Will shoot even if there isn't a monster there

You may also switch out the Power Knock Back for Focus and Blessing of the Amazon if you wish. I dont recommend this because when you get to 82, you will want Power Knock Back for Death Teddies. This is an alright build, you get even timers, Final Attack, and you don't completely lose out on Power Knock Backs power. Although you get it later, you will still enjoy it.
I advise that you alter my builds if you want a few Power Knock Back earlier, which is okay. Power Knock Back is actually very usable for creating oversized mobs and not killing the monster. I enjoy doing this on a regular basis.
Training:
30-32 Zombie Mushrooms at Ant Tunnel 1/2
32-35 Wild Boars at Hidden Street: Wild Boars
35-40 Brown Teddies (entrance hall) or Boars
40-45 Brown Teddies, fire Boars, or Jr. Kitties
45-50 Brown Teddies, Jr. Kitties, Stone Gollems, Toy Trojens (far right/left of entrance hall) Lunar Pixies, Copper Drakes, or Star Pixies
50-55 Dark Stone Gollems, Hectors, Stone Gollems, Chronos, Jr. Yetis, Zombie Lupins, or Luster Pixies
55-60 Luster Pixies, Dark Stone Gollems, Jr. Yetis, or Hectors
60-70 Luster Pixies, Hectors, White Pangs, Mix Gollems, Wild Cargos, Drakes, Zombies, Fly Eyes, Yetis, Red Drakes, The monsters at Hot Sand, or Dark Stone Gollems
-Sniper-
OGM Spoiler!
Go to El Nath - Chief Residence and speak to Rene. After talking to Rene, head back to Victoria Island and talk to Athena Pierce which is located in Henesys. Next, find the Door of Dimension located at Sleepy Dungeon V and it'll bring you to "The Path of the Glittering Crystal". Walk until the end of the path and enter the portal to defeat the wiseman's dark side to obtain the Black Charm.
Return to Athena Pierce and exchange the Black Charm for a Necklace of Strength. Return to El Nath after that and give the item to Rene. Head on to the Holy Ground at the Snowfield (Sharp Cliff II). 1 Dark Crystal is requirred to answer 5 questions to obtain the Necklace of Wisdom. Again, head back to Rene in El Nath and give her the Necklace of Wisdom.
Now that you have become a sniper (or are just reading this for future reference) you are much, MUCH, more powerful than you have ever been. With new skills like Strafe and Ice Shot knocking on your door, you are tempted to put a point in every skill just for the heck of it. DON'T! I do not recommend this or even think it is even a choice to consider.
In The End you get:
30 Strafe (usable at lvl 9)
30 Arrow Erruption
21 Ice Shot
20 Puppet
30 Golden Eagle
0 Thrust
20 Mortal Blow
This will get you ready for Death Teddies at lvl 82, make Strafe usable at lvl 73, get Ice Shot early for high level soloings, Get you pretty much ready for both Gobis and Lethal Squids when you need it. I plan on using this guide all the way, hope you do too.
I missed 3 points somewhere i think, those should go to mortal blow at the end. You get:
30 Strafe
30 Erruption
30 Eagle
21 Ice Shot
20 Puppet
20 Mortal Blow
0 Thrust
Training:
70-80 Zombies, Hectors, Macis, Yetis, Soul Teddies, Cerebes, Red Drakes, Dark Yeti and Pepes, Lazy Buffy, Dark yeti
80-90 Death Teddies, Zombies (Death Teddies are much better) Ghost Pirates, Yeti and Peps, Buffoon
90-100 Squids, Spirit Viking, Bone Fish, Master Death Teddy, Bains, Phantom Watch, Grim Phantom Watch, Sharks and Cold Sharks.

Tip: You start training at Cloud Park I from level 45, then you feel stronger, then move on to Cloud Park II, then to Cloud Park III and so on! Don't go straight to Luster Pixies, you're not going to be used to it and be frustrated often.
Star Pixies (Cloud Park I) [Level 47 - 57]
They are harder, because of the small plattforms, but they are the best exp-hit ratio from level 50 - 55.

Soul Teddy & Master Soul Teddy (Forgotten Path of Time 1) [Level 65 - 80]*
I highly recommend this spot from level 60 onwards as an alternative to Coolies. First, train at Jr. Yetis (Level 50 - 60) and then Luster Pixies (Level 60 - 65). The two spots above gives a lot of money and decent leveling. As a result, you will have enough pot money to power train from Level 65 - 80 on this monster. It will drain your money, but you'll find that you will level very very fast. And it ain't crowded.

Tip: Try not to go to Coolies any earlier, because you'll have to stick here for the next 10-20 levels and going there too early will bore you out during the late 60s.
Mix Gollem & Dark Stone Gollems (DSG) (Forest of Gollem) [Level 60 - 80]
Better than Coolies. Luster Pixies are recommended instead, if you're poor.

I suggest that you listen to music and talk to your friends. Call up someone on the phone. Or even get some type of talking via internet device to talk to your buddies from maple story. Of course this is while you are training. This will keep you from getting bored. Even now, as I write this guide, I am listening to music on my Ipod. Don't become a hacker, don't listen to people who say they will be your friend if you lend them some items, don't PQ (party quest) unless you are bored. The EXP from these PQ's is terrible. Training is much better and you have a better chance of making more money training. I also suggest that you do use every weapon except the level 12 crossbow. Scroll your level 50+ weapons with 60% scrolls and 70+ try some 10%'s. Or you could just buy them pre-scrolled which is often cheaper and easier.
There is no such thing as a "Hell Period" of a crossbow man. You just have to know where to train. The hell period that most go through is actually them just being bored and having to train somewhere that they won't enjoy it. I always thought that 46-50 is actually the Hell Period if there is one, late 60's are bad too because you are limited to monsters that are either boring or the EXP is crap.
Leet, one may come across people that speak poorly. This is NOT leet. Leet is actually a computer language of a sort that uses no letters. Wanna learn? Sure you do. I decided to add a leet guide to my archer guide. Hope it helps, well it won't help you train, but it might be fun to use with some friends.

Sorry if anyone disagrees with it, this is just what i know/think i know. It's what I use when I'm bored and talk to my friends. Remember to put a space between letters that may be confusing like y and n's.

Hey Thanks =D Took me...a few hours -_- But it took me weeks to figure everything out before i started to type it up. I originally made a guide and wrote it down on paper for my personal use.
I really hope this gets a sticky. It will make me feel good. =D Plus, I put alot of time into it, sorry no real pictures of me. xD Didnt take any.
Thx a bundle, we need more people like you, you can never have enough (good) guides.

I'm a total non-bandwagoner. THerefore, i have a 5X Xbowman, and a 6X Page. And I didn't pick the classes because they were powerful in third job, but because I like xbows in general, and I like the idea of an elemental warrior or a "mage/warrior hybrid".
You guys, -heart explodes- are over doing this. Thnx alot. I need a bunch of comments so i can get this thing stickied so everyone can use it. I dont leave noobs or semi-pros out.
Ill update if need, and will include 4th job when it officially comes out.
you need to realize there are more 3rd job builds than what you have up. try to include more of them. oh yea, put the final attack build up, even if you have no experience in it. remember, your way is not the only way and should not be the only option given.
you should probably post the skills, and how 1 skill point effects rates (like lvl 1-20, all written out)
i assume you are only lvl 94? seems like you have a lot of 1st and 2nd job knowledge, but not too much in 3rd job. more q&a section for the common questions regarding xbowman would be nice. maybe you should hold off until you are 11x
*doesnt see the point of the huge "show" pictures"
your restating a lot of the obvious things already pointed out by whiteasice, surefood, and raymond
ehh 3/10 imo. surefoot's is a little better, ray.mond's ftw :/
my opinion of course. good effort, but sticky? ion think so
see, ray.mond got not here. The guide isnt here...-to my knowledge-
And the reason I dont have more 3ed job guides is...most dont make sense and wont let you train at the places that i have listed. I read the sticky that has xbowman/sniper and those guides seem out dated by a long shot. Ludi and aqua are out in GMS and are much better than the places that he has listed. So i find his/here guide out dated and not useful for most. Since i know that everyone would rather train at DT's or Squids than the old Bain map. Im not dissing him/her, just saying its older.
Oh, im restating things because i dont think "Go to raymonds guide and look at line 303 halfway through. There you can see where to train." That would be stupid. -_- I just included what i could think of and i am open to improvements too. So I will try to correct things.
BTW, if you knew what lvl i am actually...you would cry and laugh. -_-
